You sing it sista! Billy Corgan makes good enough music, but he is not incredibly gifted in guitar.

Wes Borland doesnt get enough cred for his chops. Them 7 string Ibanez guitars help his innovation a bit, but ya still gotta be able to play it.

I think Dave Matthews gets a bit overlooked for his talent because his music hit the mainstream. But that self taught madman can make an acoustic sing.

Lets give some drummers a shout out now! Ever heard Danny Carey from TOOL? He will make you give music up all together. You will never be that good.

: Billy Corgan = freshest sonic "assault"? Nigga please! That's cool if you like Billy Corgan (I'll grant that he's a decent songwriter), but to give him the accolade of "freshest sonic assault" only says to me you don't listen to enough guitar players!

: A great current player (who definitely has a "fresh sonic assault") is Nils Frykdahl from Sleepytime Gorilla Museum (previously Idiot Flesh). His playing is great, and assaultive. Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, Frank Zappa were all leagues beyond Billy Corgan.
