Hey Kevin - I am your age, and was always fat (and am fat now). I read your April and May Arena columns with much interest. It finally got to a point for me recently where I got pretty sick of being obese (I also have the tired old wardrobe that "hides my gut" - not!), so have become vegan (I don't eat any animal products). So far it has helped me a lot. Some say it's hard to do, but there's a lot of good "fake meat" products out there, fake ice cream, etc. I have been losing weight steadily (with little exercise) for the past three weeks now.
Just my $.02 - good luck man, weight loss is a bitch!
