I think it's not that no-one finds your point interesting, but that your reasoning itself is a little stretched. I myself see no reason why a golf club would not have been used like that - maybe BECAUSE I've used a club like that - and the themes of fatherly rejection, imposed exile and want of revenge are common throughout literature and film, from Chekov to Spielberg.
