There is a good bit of blame to go around on this one. The parents, yes, but ALSO society. We live in a morally defunct, mediocre, and overly permissive society. Parents are not given the kind of role modles they need. Ok, yes they need to raise their children the "right way", mean-while anything that does not fit into normal operational paterns of masinstream parenting practices is met with ridicule, derision, or in the worst case scenario: having your children taken by the family courts system. What is normal? Forcing your children into seperate rooms to sleep alone within days of their birth (I'm 33 and I HATE to sleep alone, no sexual undertone implied either). Sending them off to be "cared for" by strangers by 6 months of age at some cookie cutter day care (I was raised by FAMILY), because we all know that career is more important than family. (That was sarcasm) Sending them off to public school by the age of 5, where teaching is done to the lowest common denominator. And then not taking any REAL intrest in their education anyway.

I could go on and on and on this topic. What it boils down to, is that for all of our great advancements, we have lost the skill of raising a family. If you have children, follow your instincts, thats why God gave them to you. Do yourself a favor, don't listen to what anyone else has to say about raising you child. Including me. Question the mainstream. Read studies on alternative parenting practices, try things that may not be popular with your mother, and for God's sakes LISTEN to what your child has to say, even if they can't talk yet.
