: Hi Kevin - couple quick thoughts on Mallrats. I don't care what anybody says, I think it's a BRILLIANT movie. I'm originally from North Jersey and every ounce of the movie is right on. I do think, that your style of writing is best understood by a fellow Jerseyan - this is the exact reason why I can identify so closely with Clerks/Chasing Amy/Mallrats etc. From the studly and cheesy, Chess King Store Manager to the love sesh in the elevator - through my eyes, you nailed it.
: My one disappointment is that you shot the movie at a mall in Minnesota. I just wish that you gave the Livingston Mall (Livingston, Northern NJ) a chance for your flick. With it's stores such as Chess King, Wicks and Sticks and a great comic book store (I forgot the name - this was the late 80's...) and most importantly, the easily-manipulated elevator in Sears (the door can be forced opened in between floors...) that would be a great love sesh locale - just a thought.
