Have you thought of painting a wall dark grey and then dimming the lights and running it through editing? Becuase there is no way in hell a blanket or cardboard, or even a backdrop would work for that man, we ran into a similar problem and changed to animation format instead, MUCH easier, but not good for anything other than comedy.
