It's all about great American roadside attractions. Now that more people in the US are driving rater thatn flying after the World Trade Center. (I HATE when people refer to it as "9/11" It's not a fucking tour date, it's a national tradgedy that should be remembered. nobody remembers Pearl Harbour as "12/7") So it's kind of an American thing.
