Every song I've downloaded on Napster has been something that is a) unavailable to buy (like a TV theme, or something equally stupid) or b) a song that I've later bought. Some of my friends have huge collections of cds with downloaded songs or (this is so ridiculous) songs that they've burnt onto cd after buying them from the shop, before taking the cd back and getting their money back, and it's just pitiful. I find that a lot of these burnt cds are pretty crappy too, as they get jumpy at the beginning and end of tracks.
: ...I rarely go for anything "bootlegged"...it just feels so less than right...it's not a "stealing" aspect, it's just so half-assed...sure, I'll get live concert bootlegs...but anything else, nah...when I lived overseas I would pick up cheap, cheap movie bootlegs, but inevitably all those tapes have been repurchased as DVD's or "official" cassettes...when I download films or songs, it's to see if I like them, and if I do, I'll see the movie in the theater or buy the CD...if I don't, the files are just deleted...and too am a walking target to get mugged...I have 7 of those 210-pack CD carrying cases and usually have one with me in the car or at work...and I'm sure when I do get robbed I'll STILL act completely suprised...
