: So I'm almost out of my twenty days in hell period of coast-jumping,
: country-swapping, Oscar-watching, and college-gigging.
: Two weeks back, me and my "Tonight Show" cohorts were in sunny
: Tampa shooting the next "Roadside Attractions" gig, the first segment
: of which is due to air on April 4th. We shot so much stuff, that another
: Florida piece will air in May. This time out, we went to the GatorLand
: zoo (where I wrestled an alligator), Weeki-Wachi (where we got jiggy
: with mermaids), Cypress Gardens (for the weirdest water-skiing
: show that doesn't feature nudity in existence), the ShowTown Bar and
: Grill (the winter hang-out for circus folk), and other nutty places. I
: think the GatorLand piece may wind up being my favorite, in as much
: as we shot some very, very bizarre stuff. Again, look for it all on April
: 4th, when I'll be on the show to introduce the stuff.
: But on April 3rd, I'll be macking in my trailer on a movie set, and for
: once it won't me one of my flicks (which means I'll probably have a
: nice trailer for a change). Mark Steven Johnson was goodly enough
: to offer a brother a cameo in the "Daredevil" movie. Don't want to give
: away any spoilers about it, but suffice it to say I don't play either DD,
: Bullseye, Elektra, or the King Pin (though, size-wise, I thought I was a
: shoe-in for that role). Wish me luck in not fucking up the scene or
: getting cut in the editing room, and many thanks to Mark for his kind
: words regarding me and Daredevil, and his even kinder offer to
: potentially ruin his picture with my ham-handed theatrics.
: All last week, I was up in Toronto shooting four commercials: two for
: Panasonic and two for Hasbro. We had a great crew (I mean, how
: couldn't we? they're Canadians) and the agency folks and clients
: were a dream to work for and with (i.e. - nobody said "You're fucking it
: all up, dickhead.").
: The Panasonic spots are, in the words of Tracy Morgan's Brian
: Fellows "Wee-yad." Many thanks to E-Man himself, Ethan, for the
: tremendous work.
: In the Hasbro spots, we've got an instant classic (featuring a kid and
: a cookie), and a spot that's more akin to the stuff I've kind of known for
: (conversations about "Star Wars"). But the Hasbro folks were true
: champs, as they gave me a fresh-off-the-press "Episode Two"
: poster, as well as a boatload of brand-spankin' new,
: not-even-on-the-market-yet "Clone" toys. Suh-WEEEEEEET!
: Watched the Oscars. Glad to see Howard (Shore, not Ron) take
: home the gold. Also nice to see Denzel awarded, as his
: performance in "Training Day" was electric. Thought the Stiller/Owen
: Wilson filmed bit felt a little bit like Ben and Matt's scene in "Jay and
: Bob" - but that's probably because I'm incredibly egocentric.
: Tonight, I've got Rhode Island, and Thursday, I'll be at Clark. Hope to
: see some of you there. At Clark, we're doing some pick-ups for the
: "Evening With..." DVD of stories I never got to tell on the original leg of
: the college tour. Suffice it to say that anyone at Clark who asks about
: the "Superman" debacle or Affleck in "Jersey Girl" will definitely get on
: the DVD.
: Speaking of the DVD - I've seen the a three hour cut of it, and was
: really, really blown away. Mind you, I've heard these stories a zillion
: times, but in watching the show, I was incredibly entertained by them
: - no easy feat, as I'm the guy on camera, and I hate hearing myself
: talk. Kudos to JM Kenny and his editor, as they've turned hours of
: footage of a guy talking into something worth watching. There's so
: much material, Col/Tristar is talking about releasing TWO DVD's,
: instead of just one. Should be cool.
: On the subject of cool: Terry Dodson's art for the "Spider-Man/Black
: Cat" mini-series in mind-bendingly good. Fuck, that man can draw.
: Look for it in June.
: Continued thanks for making the "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back"
: such a hot-seller and renter. I owe you people my life. All this
: post-theatrical cash makes our little masturbatory farewell flick very,
: very profitable for Dimension.
: That's all for now. Gotta get on the road. I'll check in after the shows.
