Denzel Washington AND Ethan Hawke?

What did you think about Denzel being nominated for best actor and Ethan Hawke for best supporting actor? By my count, Ethan Hawke is in more of the moving than Denzel.

If Denzel Washington had been nominated for best supporting, I would have gone with him.

I DO think Moulin Rouge was visually interesting. Have you seen Peter Greenaway's stuff? "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover" or "The Pillow Book" come to mind - Ewan McGregor was in that, maybe that's what makes me think of it.
Moulin Rouge was just too madcap for me.
