I don't think so. If so, I had no knowledge of it. Veronica suggests that he go to college, and it even looks like he might be briefly considering it. I think that you're used to the Hollywood idea that when people are confronted by their own tragic flaw, they change.
The end of Clerks is that Dante is still going to work at Quick Stop, having learned nothing from what Randal said, and tomorrow, they'll be back to being friends.
