First, I'm not being hateful; I'm expressing my opinion, which you apparently wanted because you posted your story here and solicited opinions.

And you're getting the opinions you asked for. If you solicit opinions about your work from people, you don't get to make excuses as to why the problems they are pointing out are there. You accept the criticism and try to make your work better because of it. By being defensive about it, what you're actually saying is you want a greek chorus (a group of people just agreeing with you or telling you what you want to hear). If that's what you want, stick with showing your work to your friends; you definately won't get that around here.

Ok, but part of writing is reviewing and updating past work that you are submitting for perusal. And realizing that peoples creations are THEIR property, not something everyone can take and use as you please.

No, but by labeling something as "must read", you are encouraging people to read it, not just soliciting opinions. Which is what you've been getting. Oh, and posting followup chapters to something you've been getting really horrible reviews on, isn't bright.
