There is no doubt that the man is talented, but I also so believe that after a person is in the buisness for as long as he has been, his work suffers. The movies you mentioned were loved by many people, but I don't see him growing as a director. His top work was all pre-1995 and that was a long time ago, it seems that he has gotten really full of himself in the past few years and before he knows it, he will be directing porno's because every idea he has for a movie, we have all already seen.
P.S. He is a really creepy guy too. He looks like a damn serial killer
