I, like yourself, have very little disposable income, so I generally wait until I have gotten what I consider a comfortable number of reviews to decide whether or not I will buy any movie, including those Askew related. Generally the movies in my collection are either old ones that I grew up with and loved, or new ones I've either already seen and loved, or heard rave reviews about, and even then, I'll sometimes rent them first to see what I think for myself. I do think that there are probably a certain number of people who will buy the movie simply because it is VA directed/produced, but I simply can't afford that, and like you, would possibly be disappointed if I did.
For instance, since it was unavailable to rent, I waited to buy ABP until I had talked to a number of people about the movie, and I was not disappointed in my purchase, as ABP is what I consider to be one of the best in my collection of purchases.
Based on what I saw at V3, I would buy BHD, if it were to ever meet with DVD. I loved this movie more than I thought I could. I lol'd. On the other hand, while I am glad I saw Vulgar, I would probably not buy it. Even if I hadn't seen it at V3, I probably wouldn't have bought it for the simple fact that I knew there was a male/clown rape sequence from the things I'd heard, and that's just not something I want in my collection. Don't get me wrong. I would've rented it, had I had the opportunity, just not owned it.
Tail Light's Fade I saw late at night on HBO. I, unlike a lot of people, liked the movie. I'm not sure I would buy it, but I liked it. Drawing Flies; I will reserve my decision until I hear what others have to say.
