It's hard to find fresh sound in today's hip hop. Ja Rule and Jay-Z are pretty much the only "thug life" rappers with anything NOT sounding overdone, and even they're not as good as they were years ago (Ja Rule's come a long way in talent but his music now just doesn't seem as good, with the woman vocalist constantly stealing the song).
Americans, download stuff from London-based Roots Manuva. His tunes are dreamlike and easy to relax and bob your head to.
Also, get into Garage music. People like So Solid Crew and Masters Of Ceremonies mix rap and dance together incredibly well.
