Their decisions could stem from a fear that their films will fail without familiar cast/crew credits. All of Kevin's films were successful, and he hired many of the same cast and crew for each movie. He'd be insecure without familiar faces on board to help him succeed.

Of course Kevin will always have a place for Mewes, as Sam Raimi will always have a place for Campbell. They'd be insecure control freaks if they didn't.
