I think it's mainly to keep their feet on the ground. Rather than getting caried away with the whole Hollywood scene, they keep one of their buddies from the early days around them to help them keep grounded. Having said that, generally the actors (particularly Mewes) really start to develop and improve their skills as they gain more experience, and even though they're buddies with the director, they become more than a "lucky charm" for the directors. But what do I know? I'm under heavy medication and feeling kinda drowsy.
: Looking at two of the great independant directors (those being Kevin and Sam Raimi) I notice that there are similarities in the actor baggage catagory (actor baggage meant in a good way). Both Kevin and Sam have put their two main actors (Jason Mewes and Bruce Campbell respectively) in almost every movie that they do (Raimi didn't have Bruce in "A Simple Plan" right?). How do you think that this develops? Is it to show independant loyalty to a crew once the director becomes mainstream? Is it just one of those things they develop to remember the roots? I know I'm reading too far into this, but there has to be some psychological meaning behind this other than they're buds.
: Continuing that thought: do you think that Kevin and Sam will continue to put cameos in their movies for Jason and Bruce?
