: : ....granted, some true hip-hop classics came out of it, early NWA, early Ice Cube albums, Dre's albums, The D.O.C., Snoop's first album, but other than that, it didn't really last...East Coast hip-hop has given us De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Wu-Tang Clan, Gang Starr...shit, you wanna get techincal, Outkast is Eastside, too...both coasts have had some gems, but in terms of lasting importance, the Eastside IS the best side...

: No you got it all wrong the West Coast set the standerds, we changed the face of rap forever east coast is just trying to catch up, the only resone east cost is better now it's because Tupac is gone and dre and snoop sold out the West coast. Fuck dre and snoop.
But set the standards? Please. Most of the west coast rap was about gangbanging, and robbing and stealing and shit like that, whereas, east coast tended to focus more on the music itself. Plus, you said in your post that the east coast is better so I rest my case.
