As has been mentioned, but bares mentioning again, the "local flavor" of Indians in these communities tends to be as the people who were forcably kicked off the land by the people who later named teams in "honor" of the horrible menace that was "eradicated" (or at least shipped out west). As I said earlier, its very different when an Irish Catholic university names its team the "Fighting Irish" then when a city who's only connection to Indians are the remaining geographically signifiers adopts a racial slur or appropriate a proud title. Is very different when a team ships off and retains the name of its former community then when a team names itself after the community's former residents that have been shipped off.
