I have to agree with Piscez on the idea that the whole flashback didn't suit the movie. While I understand "the point" they were going for, I'm just not certain his backstory is what fit appropriately to accomplish that point. I didn't much care for either the lead actor or his love interest. Their performances seemed bland in comparison to Lee, Lee's love interest and most of the cast for that matter. The teenage girl who was obsessed with magazines was great though (was also just in DON'T SAY A WORD).
I own the flick because it was on sale for less than $2 at Blockbuster, but I certainly wouldn't buy it on DVD. It's nice to have another Lee movie that isn't VA related (I just mean it's nice to see Lee's range by that comment) and rather enjoyable to catch the 15 seconds of his skateboarding, but other than that...I rather watch ALMOST FAMOUS to get my Lee fix and a plethora of other romantic comedies if that's what I am in the mood for.
