Ok. I almost shit myself when I read the movie listings in the paper this week and saw Vanilla Sky in big black letters...Saw it Friday night (1/11) I have to say, Cameron Crowe finally has some respect from me, that movie fuckin rocked overall. Tom Cruise, as usual, grins like a fuckin moron every five seconds. Jason Lee, plays a damn good friend, reminds me alot of a friend of mine as far as the advice he gives, give that man a motherfuckin oscar already. Penelope Cruz, someone put her in my bed already, damn she's a hottie, and yes she was very good in this flick. Cameron Diaz, well, sub-par, but still a new angle that she can play, she doesnt usually play a stalking bitch like that. Ok, about the movie, I sat there the first five minutes thinking, normal movie, right? No curves thrown, no sub-plots or symbolism, right? Dead wrong. Fifteen minutes into the movie, I realize I wasn't even in the theater, I realize I am so into this flick that I am totally picking out every clue I need, thinking that he did kill some woman, then the next thing I know they are at LE and he sees the guy from the restaurant. I didn't even think about anything till he mentioned the contract, and then we see the guy from the restaurant telling David that he can control everything, something about that he subconsciously wants all of these people there. Going back aways to the club, something when Jason Lee tells him that he only met Sofia once? I cant remember what he said, but I knew something was up, because he had met her, more than just at the party.
And then the end where he finds out that its all been a dream, and then he finds the guy from the restaurant, and he is lead to the roof, where a slightly-boring, yet highly informative diatribe, before meeting up with Jason Lee and Sofia again, then jumping off the roof.
Final thought: I like it, I love it, when the DVD comes out I will have more of it, Cruz is a winner, and if I had a choice of the woman in my dreams, let it be her! Gets a full four blunt rating from me.
