: Dude, I think you're reading a little too much into it.
I'M reading too much into it, huh? Well, let's just examine your fascinating little post and then see who's reading too much into it.
: Also, the so called "playa" status of the characters could be an act.
Why exactly would Lucas write it like this?
: Ever wonder why Han is so afraid to declare himself to Leia.
Afraid to declare himself to Leia? He didn't seem so afraid in
EMPIRE. In fact, it seems to me that he was making a ploy for her for
a half hour until she finally warmed up to him.
: It's certainly not out of respect for Luke, because any real man would
: bitch slap that little punk and take Leia even if she wasn't his sister.
They didn't even know they were brother and sister until Obi-Wan told Luke in the beginning of JEDI!
: Han is gay and he and Lando are obviously lovers.
Yeah, right and I'M reading too much into it.
STAR WARS is not meant to have messages such as this, it's meant to just be good entertainment, that's all it is. And maybe Kevin Smith doesn't like the trilogy as much as I thought he did (you'll have to forgive me, I've only seen DOGMA of his and I read up on and heard him say he makes reference to Star Wars in all his movies), but it seems to me that it's a waste of time (and a waste of film) to talk about a film you didn't care for in every movie you make. But that's not to say I have anything against Kevin Smith, I don't, I think he's very creative (and I really do have to rent some of his other DVDs), but I just don't understand why he would talk about this subject so much if he dislikes it.
