Re-releasing the original "Star Wars" trilogy was an interesting experiment. Unfortunately it has led to a trend to revise completed movies left and right. Come on now, was the world really clamoring for an even longer version of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" or "Highlander: Endgame"? The "Highlander" DVD demonstrates the problem this will lead to: Shoddier movies will get cranked out to make deadlines with moviemakers worrying less about quality the first time because they always finish the work for the next release. I like the inclusion of deleted scenes as an OPTION for viewing in DVDs, but redoing the whole movie is getting out of hand.
