On another topic within your post.....Kevin does seem to touch on something that we as filmmakers are trained NOT to do.....appeal to the lowest common denominator. What are sitcoms so funny? CUZ EVERYONE GETS THEM, and thats why they are so widely popular. By Mr. Smith not bowing to the dumbing down of modern cnema, the audience can be entertained and STILL think. There are only a handful of film today that can really have that dynamic combo.....story, smarts, AND good acting. SEVEN, comes to mind....And yes, Eyes Wide Shut.

Im not blasting low brow films, i.e., Dude Wheres My Car, etc, I enjoy a carefree escape and loved to be mindlessly entertained sometimes too. But for that to be Par for the industry...well, IM glad I'm trying to change all of that.
