Hmmmm, I'm gonna have to disagree for two reasons:
A) I've unfortunately seen "Gump" 4-5 times and as I type this I have no idea when the hell they played "Hey Joe," meaning the scene/song combo just didn't do it for me...
B) Sinead did the remake especially for the film, and I guess I'm more drawn to pieces that are in someway original...just makes me pay more attention to the song...
But hey, whatever's clever for you, Hoggy...let it fly...
