Once it gets trancfered to film you can't tell the difference as easily. But it is a lot cheeper to rewind a digital tape and tape over mistakes than to waste film stock. I haven't priced film in a long time, but you can buy a box of ten minidv tapes for $50. That's 90 hours of tape.
