I know Kevin Smith is not a big fan of Tim Burton's Batman, but what was the big problem with the film? As a kid, I remember watching the film for the first time in the theater and really enjoying it. Although I did think that the film, especially the sequel, dragged on a bit long, but the action was top notch and as the film progressed the villain was growing increasingly evil. The portrayal of Batman, The Joker and Gotham City was very dark and very stylish. It helped add more depth to the dramatic element of the story. I also remember anxiously awaiting the sequel to find out how Catwoman and The Penguin would meet their demise. Episodes 3 and 4 were just too light and weren't nearly as good as it wished it would be. As I had previously just watched the 1989 Batman recently, I still enjoyed it. It was good, not great, but it could have been alot worse if the first two were directed by Joel Schmalcher instead of Tim Burton. Hell, if Joel directed the first two Batman films, the franchise would have ended earlier than expected. Anyway, can anyone tell me, if they didn't enjoy it, what they thought was the problem with Batman? Also, just for the record, Michael Keaton is Batman/Bruce Wayne. No Kilmer or Clooney can match him. Too bad Keaton's career is fading faster than Hansons career. However, he did make a nice comeback with Jackie Brown and Out Of Sight, but did he have to star in Jack Frost? That film would have ended Brad Pitt's career if he starred in it.
