Is it me or is Rush Hour 2 highly overrated?

Even though lots of critics trashed Rush Hour 2, audiences seemed to love the film. When I saw the film two weeks after it's release, I thought it was okay, but why was it such a record breaking film? What attracted so many people to this film? The original Rush Hour was good, not great, but it had it's share of laughs and good action and he sequel was basically the same as the original. The biggest problem I had with both films was that the story sucked. It's been done several times before. There was nothing new. You'll never hear the audience coming out of Rush Hour 2 discussing how much they loved how "original" the story was. I regretted paying to see the film because now I can barely remember the film and it was basically a waste of time. I just remembered that Jackie Chan was great and I laughed maybe twice during the film at Chris Tucker's jokes. Now, I just heard that it made over $200 million dollars. This shocked the hell out of me. It made more money than Back To The Future. I know that the prices of tickets have nearly quadrupled since the early 80's, but this film doesn't really deserve as much popularity as such a classic box office smash as Back To The Future. This is just another reason why the box office doesn't mean too much about how good a film really is. This summer, audiences preferred such intellectually devoid films as Mummy 2, Fast & Furious, JP3, and Rush Hour 2. Now, more sequels will be made of those films. DAMN!!!!!!It's just sad that they missed out on such great films as MEMENTO, and..........uhhh A.I. (except for the ending). Can anyone think of another great film that opened this summer (excluding another highly overrated film called The Others)? They also missed out on one of the funniest films ever made, J&SBSB.
