I've read the Washington Post story and was struck by the fact that they offered no substantiation that anyone was forced to call and inform loved ones that they were about to die. Does that mean it didn't happen? No, but it means this might be a rush to judgement. For the life of me, I cannot see why anyone thinks the horror of these events needs to be exaggerated, but that's already happened today. It may have happened here. It seems some people did get on the phone on this flight, and perhaps some were able to once they knew their fate. Some might consider this a blessing rather than something to be ordered to do. It is unlikely we can entirely know what happened on any of these planes, especially in their final moments. Rumors will abound. These are horrible, horrible events, but do not succumb to extreme distress at every story. Many of the stories, both of terror and heroism, will not be true. One can only hope that when we begin to pick up the pieces of this tragedy, we can bring to justice those responsible.
