That ALSO depends on where you are. Detroit is coming out full force. My former coworkers at the Red Cross HQ downtown say that place is packed right now. Not sure what's going on at the other service centers (although I was told that one Detroit-area donation center was closed due to a bomb threat, if you can believe THAT shit).
Another hint for those who may wish to donate: When I tried to call the national 1 800 GIVE LIFE (448-3543) number, I couldnt get through to an actual person, so you may be better off calling your local donation center to set up some kind of appointment. Or, if all else fails, go to www.redcross.org, find a local donation site, and just go down, appointment be damned.
: Michigan at this point is sufficiently distant to not be overloaded yet - in fact quite the opposite (apparently many would rather watch the images for the twenty-eighth time than go give blood...sorry, I'm kind of negative today).
