- the rough cut I sent a VHS tape of to Molly sometime in 1996.

: If it was just about youth violence I wouldn't think he'd possibly been "inspired" by me, but what first caught my attention was Molly's name on the poster in the cast. That just seemed to oddly coincidental. Then I read the synopsis- kid's mom (Molly Castelloe) gets divorced so they move to a new town to start life afresh. Kid runs afould of local bullies/gang members and becomes an internet junkie (an element not in ABP, nor is there the gang element), and eventually finds a gun in the woods (hmmmmmmmm...) and extracts revenge after the gang kills his girl.

: In all fairness, it sounds like the guy put A BETTER PLACE and DEADBEAT AT DAWN in a blender and concocted A PACKING SUBURBIA. I had a lot of screenings in the NYC area in late-summer/fall 1997 too, and according to the APS website he shot in 1998, so it wouldn't be too much of a stress to think he could have seen the film- he's an NYC/LI native- at the IFFM, Hamptons Film Festival, or the Independents Night screening at the Walter Reade Theater.

: : Care to give us a small summary of its similarities to A BETTER PLACE?
