Case in point: Gladiator. Don't even get me started on that one.
Out of every oscar winner in the last few decades, the film that deserved an oscar the most (in my opinion, and off the top of my head to boot) is The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie, which won for best foriegn film.
I highly reccomend it.
