It's no different to the PMRC trying to censor music, or the whole CAP ratings thing. It's basic oppression of art disguised as "protecting" a certain group of people - be they children, homosexuals or whatever.
And when the target is in the right, that's when it's even more dangerous. That kind of article needs to be read - it takes GLAAD's motives to task and finds them wanting.
