I haven't had the same problem. I love listening to commentary and hearing how things were done. I recently picked up the DVD of Idle Hands and listened to the commentary, and had a ball with it, even though it's not exactly a masterpiece of modern cinema. Pretty sure Seth Green's a real-time stoner, though, based on the commentary. That pleased me immeasurably. ;-)
So far, when I've listened to commentary on a movie, it's a movie that the people making it had fun with. That comes out in the commentary, so even if I find out that a really cool scene happened because the exceedingly cool scene that was SUPPOSED to be there went over-budget or something, I'm glad to know it anyway. But then, I'm a repository for that kind of useless knowledge.
