It's the movie that's a bomb. I just rented it the other night, (because of the joke in JASBSB), and it was nothing special. Evil polymorphing oil slick takes over Smalltown USA and causes gruesome death and splatter. Sherriff Ben and Scientist Peter O'Toole, (who was good in the film), destroy oil slick after state-of-the-art firepower of Government agency fails. Mostly a rip-off of John Carpenter's "The Thing". I haven't read it but I bet Koontz's book was better.
