Requiem fucked me up something mighty when I saw it. I walked out of the theater shaken, but remarkably, also uplifted, because I was happy to be alive. I didn't even want to drink for a month afterwards...

Yet, I still have to vote for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I saw it THREE times in the theaters (something I haven't done for a film since The Empire Strikes Back originally came out) and I've watched it numerous times on DVD (CTHD, I mean... since we all know that there is no TESB DVD ;) ... It's close, and I was mighty upset when Requiem did not get a number of Oscar nods (as well as when Ellen Burstyn lost to the two-bit wonderbra hack Julia Roberts), but for me, the best film of 2000 was CTHD... by a nose...

And Vincent, I too loved Dancer in the Dark.
