When I worked at a movie theater (not as a projectionist though), we would occasionally have the problem of the film getting stuck and melting under the bright light of the projector (I think this is what the previous guy was describing). That may have been what happened. The projectionist of that theater probably thought it best to skip a couple seconds in the scene rather than cut the film so it popped back in right in the middle of a sentence, and I'd have to agree with him.
This happens all the time. And if you haven't seen the movie before, you'd never notice.
On a separate topic, has anyone ever gotten a movie on video or something and had a certain scene or line in the movie changed? I swear that when I first saw Dogma, Janeane Garofalo said "holy shit, it's Jesus" instead of "holy shit, it's the pope". Maybe I'm wrong, but I actually thought the line was funnier the way I remembered it.
