: I'm sad to hear that Kevin Smith will never do anything with Jay and Silent Bob again. I understand that he wants to branch out into different films, but is Fletch the answer? I think he has alot more talent than doing the 3rd Fletch movie. Is there really a market for this? Just look at Crocodile Dundee. The first Crocodile Dundee was made in 1986 and grossed over $320 million worldwide, the 2nd came in 1988 and made over $220 million worldwide. So this year they decide to make a third one and that flops and brings in a scant $22 million. Fletch came out in 1985 and brought in $40 million, the sequal in 1989 brought in $35 million. Obviously the public didn't care about a Crocodile Dundee 3rd movie, and that was obviously much bigger than Fletch. So what makes anyone think there will be an audience for Fletch? I know the novels have the following and everything but I don't see the relavence of a new Fletch. And Chevy Chase is the man known as Fletch, and he's not the star. I wish Kevin the best of luck, but I think this Fletch experience will be a disaster and I hope that he conjours up something newer and unique for his follow up to the Fletch Fiasco. Maybe even reconsidering giving Jay and Bob another whirl.
fletch is cool, especially if jason lee plays him. and using croc dundee as a means of comparison is a travesty.
