I'm sad to hear that Kevin Smith will never do anything with Jay and Silent Bob again. I understand that he wants to branch out into different films, but is Fletch the answer? I think he has alot more talent than doing the 3rd Fletch movie. Is there really a market for this? Just look at Crocodile Dundee. The first Crocodile Dundee was made in 1986 and grossed over $320 million worldwide, the 2nd came in 1988 and made over $220 million worldwide. So this year they decide to make a third one and that flops and brings in a scant $22 million. Fletch came out in 1985 and brought in $40 million, the sequal in 1989 brought in $35 million. Obviously the public didn't care about a Crocodile Dundee 3rd movie, and that was obviously much bigger than Fletch. So what makes anyone think there will be an audience for Fletch? I know the novels have the following and everything but I don't see the relavence of a new Fletch. And Chevy Chase is the man known as Fletch, and he's not the star. I wish Kevin the best of luck, but I think this Fletch experience will be a disaster and I hope that he conjours up something newer and unique for his follow up to the Fletch Fiasco. Maybe even reconsidering giving Jay and Bob another whirl.
