Maybe I thought that just because the packaging says 1.66:1.

When you shot it, did you intend to show it at 1.5:1?

: 1.66:1 isn't the "original". 16mm has a 1.37:1 aspect ratio. 1.5:1 was used to cover up the slightly rounded edges of the film frame, which isn't perfectly straight top and bottom or perfectly "sharp" but rather a little blurry, and give the frame a nice, hard edge.
