At the end of Chasing Amy, Banky looks like he got a mental KO punch, right after Holden propositioned the 3-way to he and Alyssa. That "floored" look increased once Holden was like "blah blah...so just face the facts, Bank. That's something you've gotta learn to accept."
The situation clearly changed him, as the gesturing and body language showed at the very end at the comic con.
So...had the second to last scene in Chasing Amy never happened, Banky would have retorted Hooper's comment(upon walking out of the theater at the end of 'Strike Back) with something of the "You fuckin' wish, pole-smoker." ilk.
So, in essence, the experience almost...drained the homophobia from Banky. Which is also why he was able to laugh along with Willenholly.
I don't think Banky's gay. I've said this before. I just think that the situation near the end of Chasing Amy abolished the homophobia, while also allowing himself to shamelessly be a good friend of Hooper(who is damned flamboyant) when appearing in public. Before the "experience", Banky wouldn't be caught dead with Hooper in a movie.
I said this on the It's the Cat's Ass board, and don't feel like finding it...but essentially, that's my take.
I'm probably wrong.
