: With a nearly mute "Silent Bob" as a lead, there's no decent bantering between the main characters,

Just wanted to mention that a silent half is not all that uncommon..
Look at Penn and Teller... They had a movie.. and it was entertaining even though Teller only talked at the end.

And in the great art flick The Cook The Thief his Wife and Her Lover.. The two main characters don't speak for the first 20 minutes of the film..

And their first lines to each other is about seeing a movie where the main characters didnt speak for 20 minutes...

I don't think thats a good enough reason to say that Jason couldnt handle a film by himself.. You may believe that.. but I dont think thats the reason you think it..

I was uncomfortable with the quantity of Jay and Bob in Dogma.. but I grew to like it.. So I know what you mean.. but I thought they pulled it off better in J&SBSB..

For me, it was the limited amount of Bob's expressions.. he was more stoic in smaller doses.. now he's using his whole face to convey scenes without dialogue.. so his face seemed more cartoonish.. and this change in his character seemed to bother me..

Much like Superman throwing the S off his chest in Superman III (it WAS III wasnt it?) or The Crow calling down the birds in The Crow II.. Just seemed like something that was thrown in and caught me by suprise..

Bob was less of a Zen leader, and more of a baffoon.. (No offense, Kevin)..

Just my $.02.
