Well, this guy IS rude in some parts, but he DID buy his ticket, and has his say.

Let me take a turn.

Is a 'True Fan' an ass kisser who MUST feel that J&SBSB is great, or even good?

If so, I guess I'm out as a 'True Fan', even though I have bought all of the videos, AND the DVD's, soundtracks, comic books, Stash items...the only thing I haven't done is gone to meet Kevin, or booked it all the way to red Bank to bask in the REAL 'Askewniverse'.

I've been posting here since, uh...well, Vinnie told me to hold off on another new Laser Disc player and go with the 'Brand New' DVD format.

Christ, how long ago WAS that?(Different user names have passed..)

I've seen J&SBSB now 8 times.
Crucify me, villify me, even whip out the holier than thou, and well thought out, *Fuck You*...but it just is NOT that good.

The theatre was damn empty tonight. Sad. I've done my part, and even dragged my 65 year old MOM to see this. Yes, I laugh, and heartily....Kevin succeded in doing that.

But truth be told, I'm seeing this film again and again JUST to try and give a 'Thanks' for the films I DO love that Kevin has made, and WILL make, and TRY to get this thing to #1, or fuck it, just huge bank. He deserves it.

I'm done seeing it for now. I'll be seeing a bunch of other movies...even Piefucker 2 again..but I'm gonna STILL be buying tickets to J&SBSB. And I will LOVE the irony of watching Rush Hour 2 and Pie Fucker 2 again while holding J&SBSB tickets.

I DO feel I 'owe' that to Kevin for all those times in my life when I've felt like shit and just watching 'Clerks' or 'Rats for ten minutes makes the pain or stress go away.

Now, first Kevin said it would be Clerks 2, and judging by the great lines in the cartoon, and how good the Quick Stop and Brian and Jeff looked, plus the fact that the banter was STILL there..I wish he'd done it.

But..
He then teased us with 'Rats 2....

That would have been sweet...

But..then came the idea to ...uh...
????

At any rate, this was SUPPOSED to be the 'Closure'.
No closure here.

The movie IS a mish-mash, with the 'Guest Stars' stealing time from the 'old' characters I wanted to see again.

Here's the 'Closure'...

Randal and Dante-NEITHER HAS FUCKING QUIT???
Brodie- Uh...yeah.
Banky- Is he straight? Gay? Huh? Whatever...
Holden- Uhm...seemed too 'forced'
Hooper-Banky's Bitch?
Jay and Bob- There is so much wrong here, that if you cannot see it, forget it.

Oh, and none have seemingly changed fucking clothes in years. Wow.

Now, as for the prior poster's critique...
Jen did FINE...and looked fine. I don't give a rat's ass if Kevin likes me as a person...and I have no desire to bone his wife, so I am giving an honest judgement. Yes, she looked older...JEWEL THIEVES USUALLY ARE NOT ALL THE SAME FUCKING AGE!
If you saw Brad Pitt leading van Der Beek and Pie Fucker together, would you complain? No...it just MAKES SENSE.

Jay- He carried it FINE...damn, his solid performance is one of the ONLY reasons I can sit through it AGAIN AND AGAIN. He deserves props for this.

Kevin tried directing in a more active style...shit, peolple have been gnawing at his ass for 'static shots' and then when he DARES to try for a different approach, he's bitchslapped by Wampa 12? His writing on this one is the weakest link in the VA chain, but hey..his direction damn ruled. Give credit where credit is due.

Locations? I can name MANY 'Big Name' films that try to pass off MY former home, Las Vegas, as the real deal, when it is SO obvious it is Atlantic City.

Here's a shocker-Tatooine was in..YUMA. (I think..)

Look, I have ZERO idea what was originally intended...but from what I read during the writing and filming, Kevin just couldn't HELP certain things...I'm SURE Jason Lee would have had a LOT more screen time, but did you happen to catch his schedule? As it is, we didn't get Sups due to a conflict! See that 10 minutes or less of Lee? Be glad you got that.

What if Affleck had entered rehab EARLIER..Kevin couldn't just call of the damn film....

Lee did what he could, and I THANK HIM. Kevin did what he had to do, contractually, and what was right for HIM and had to move on....sadly, we lost a lot of Banky/Brodie.

He broke up with JLA....but she came back for a cameo..as did Doherty...
Yes, he COULD have thrown T.S. in there..it HAS been years, and hey, one London bro looks enough like the other, right?

But..the T.S. thing WAS sealed....

It looks like Kevin TRIED to make a satire about Hollywood and the Net and nobody really got it, or cared.

He threw in some old characters, but really...????

The bottom line is J&SBSB ranks as...#5 for me. Sorry if I'm a Judas. If Kevin was trying to JUST make me laugh, he did a damn fine job....but if he was trying to give something back to the 'fan' in me, he failed.

I'm shallow...I want Clerks 2...LIVE ACTION.

You cannot make a movie based on a sub-plot of an Indie Hit like Chasing Amy and then add a mix of Hollywood Stars and a road film..and ..uh, whatever..and expect it to appeal to the 'Masses'...and in retrospect, maybe a film called 'Jersey' would have done it better, with a nice mall, 20 minutes of Quick Stop action...hey, have the celebs do the fucking cameos IN the damn Quick Stop...have Mark Hamill interject into a conversation about Jedi. That's fucking funny.

It really DOES feel like Kevin got into a plot, hired actors he dug, and then when confused, grabbed the 'Chasing Dogma' scripts.

Since I have watched the other films, I laugh at the in-jokes...and as a former film student and intern in H-Town. I can laugh at the satire..and as a Net geek, I can laugh at..well, ME.

But as a 'Real' film. this one falls short on the VA meter.
I wish there was one more neat thing..like a 4 hour DVD cut for us 'diehards'...but really, NOT GONNA HAPPEN.
This is/was IT.

I liked it, hated it, have mixed feelings about it, but I'll buy the DVD and VHS, and the score, and wait for the next Smith movie.
Maybe I'll love it, maybe I will hate it and post whining how "J&SBSB" was SOOO much fucking better.

In the end, it's JUST a movie, we did our part, and we can now look forward to the future...so far, Kevin has three projects I am practically erect about (Okay, not REALLY 'erect, per se..), and some Hella good comics going on.

You cannot attack people for not saying thier lines...Kevin isn't paying me, and I don't see anyone with a cue card here in the kitchen that reads "Post Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back FUCKING RULES! Naysayers can lick my BALLSACK!"

I can't say that. When the theatres WERE full, and people just looked confused, I DID understand...

If I saw Rudh Hour 2, and not Rush Hour, it would have been 1/4 as funny.
That's the reality.

To those that loved the flick, great...
If you didn't, life will go on....
If you want to post a TRUE reaction, then FUCK the diehards that cannot accept that the film isn't the Citizen Kane of slapstick.
Post.

Just don't call Kevin names, or demand a damn refund. Don't insult the man's wife, ESPECIALLY when some fair people here HONESTLY could look you in the eye and say Jen did a better job than about 75% of so called 'actresses' out there. Wait until the NEXT Smith flick rolls around before making hasty decisions about the man's abilities.
