I agree with an earlier posting saying that they can't really play those characters forever? It's better that he "retire" them, at least for a little while. We know Kevin has many other ideas for future projects. I mean, are we "Jay and Silent Bob" fans? Or Kevin Smith fans? Don't get me wrong, I love Jay and Bob, and all the VA crew as much as anyone else here. I mean, I credit Kevin for introducing the world to some really excellent actors/actresses. However, I for one am a Kevin Smith fan, I'll support anything he does, whether it be more Jay and Bob films, or anything else he decides to do.
Also, from what I can tell of Kevin, just by reading interviews and what not, I wouldn't say he's all about the money. I have a feeling that even if this movie grossed $80 mil we still wouldn't see another jay and bob flick. This was his plan all along - 5 films in the Jersey Chronicles, correct?
I too was at first saddened by the announcement that there'd be no more Jersey films, but Kevin has his reasons. I think maybe it's a smart move to retire the characters before they become overkill (not that I personally believe they would).
Who knows, point is, support the man.
