now, as far as the continuity goes...i'm not sure how tight it really is...i mean, we don't wanna get into the whole "when do mallrats and clerks take place" and yadda-blah, because...who really cares? but as far as the comics, here's my take...
i nver looked at the Clerks books as part of the continuity...just more or less as unproduced episodes of the Clerks Animated Series, which I also don't see as part of the continuity.
the oni double feature is more or less just a story you can stick anywhere in the continuity before Mallrats, so, we'll leave that alone.
But Chasing Dogma i always saw as kind of a little mini-movie telling us what happened between the Jay and Silent Bob scene in Amy, and Dogma.
so...the only way, continuity wise [i've neevr seen such an adament overuse of the word "continuity" in my life], to explain the monkey stuff in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back would be to say that it was something that simply happeend to them twice, with the exact same monkey, or two different monkeys with the same name. simply because the comics stuff happens between the Jay and Bob scene in Amy and Dogma, and the Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back stuff happens after the very end of Amy, which, if ya think about it even a little, is a year after the end of Dogma.
and in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Holden says he sold his part of the comic to Banky yearS ago. YearS, plural. so...it'd have to be at least one year after the end of Amy, which is a year after Dogma, making it two yearS after the stuff in the comic.
and, really...what are the odds of two guys stealing two different monkeys with the same name on two different cross country road trips?
pretty fucking slim.
