: It probably depends on what you are using the art projects for. If they are simply for a grade, chances are your teacher is looking for originallity (even if it sucks) rather than wanting to see what your skills are in producing a piece. You might want to find out what your teachers motives are before asking for permission to use the characters in class.
I just have some neat ideas that I could use the characters for. I'm not going to be using them for every project.
