I finally saw Jay & Silent Bob yesterday (Friday). To my amazement the theatre was practically empty...about 10 people in attendence and 4 of them left early... very early.

Anyway I thought that up to the point when the 'Jewel Heist' girls entered the picture, it was outstanding. Jay getting a main squeeze is not interesting, and it seemed that the whole Jewel Heist thing was created for no other reason than to find some way to hook Jay up with Justice. IMO it took away from what might've otherwise been a much more interesting road trip for J & SB.

Once the girls were out of the way, the film became good again. The scenes involving Will Ferrell at the Diner and at (what looked like) Hoover Dam had me laughing once again. And of course Silent Bob screaming at Jay after the monkey-napping was one of the best moments of the film. I loved Jay's "say it, don't spray it" response! And then Jay & SB's meeting with the two drug dealers will go down as one of VA's finest moments. The line "Norma Rae like a mutha fucka" is CLASSIC!!!

Then came the Miramax stuff. This was some good shit I must say. It could've become another one of those generic movie studio chase scenes..and in some ways was...but the 'blow job' and GWH2 scenes were very entertaining. Affleck's 'frosted hair', Gus Van Sant not wanting to be bothered while he counts the cash, and "just think about the check" (I don't remember the exact quote here) reminded me of the sort of humor in the masterpiece THIS IS SPINAL TAP. It was also good to see Mark Hamil, but I now see what everyone meant by saying how old he looks nowadays :-(

Unfortunately this was followed by the re-appearance of the CLIT girls. The only thing they accomplished was to screw up the movie again IMO. I just felt they had too much of a role, and that the Justice/Jay thing seemed WAY TOO FORCED. I know...it's a comedy and it's not to be taken seriously, but to me (and I know most people loved it, but this is just my opinion) it just took away any momentum the film had going. This is the reason why I probably won't see it again. This is one instance where too much CLIT is not necessarily a good thing!
