My wife and I, regrettably had to wait until last night for THE MOVIE – Babysitter stuff you know.

For Dogma, I called-off work to hit the opening – and came back the next day and 2 more times afterward – once with my “God & the Movies” church discussion group – who were overwhelmingly offended. “I counted the “F” word 97 times” was my favorite quote from a parishioner. I love it.

Anyhew – J&SBSB was hilarious from start to finish! We were thoroughly entertained – WE’LL BE BACK – with friends.

I still can’t get George Carlin’s facial expressions out of my mind – he is so freakin’ believable – I mean he’s like a living cartoon character. And Chris Rock, who was a little stiff and off-pace in Dogma – was PERFECT in J&SBSB.

The highlight was how Jason simply shines as an actor. He had some seriously difficult parts. And he hit them with finesse. I’d love to see his out-takes they have to be great.

This movie is testimony to the strides Kevin has made in his crafts. Kevin’s “2 steps-above-amateur” cinematography in the previous movies is conspicuous thus endearing and authentic to the subject matter. Because you love Kevin like you love a neighbor – his style enhanced that feeling of – “hetero” intimacy. Anyone who’s the only fan of your friend’s band knows what I’m saying. But in J&SBSB it was top notch – I mean there was noticible improvement chronologically from movie to movie. But the difference between Dogma and J&SBSB is mammoth! And the pacing of this movie and the timing of the jokes were perfect! The writing fit the cartoonish vibe of the movie – meaning it complimented everything instead of hammering it in to fit… and wow, just too cool.

My hope – Now that Kevin has proven himself as a talent who can appeal to the masses and not just us off-key misfits any more – is that he maintains his approachability and continues to use sincere virtue and genuine creative curiosity as his artistic drive. This is why I respect him (or what I know of him), as a person, more than I love his movies – and I do love his movies.

Pretty bizzare considering I’m a church leader – YIKES!

Grace.
