Luckily I have that same hope, so we're good.
I think parenting is the most difficult challenge possible for a human being. Out of respect for the time, energy, effort and patience required to do it in anything close to a responsible manner, I have chosen to not take on that onerous a task.
Unfortunately, I think well over 75% of the people who choose to parent children are in the same boat as me in terms of emotional qualification, ability to take responsibility and/or willingness to sacrifice. This is leaving us with a society of people who are increasingly underparented or poorly parented.
I think this is not only a sad state of affairs in a country that has well over the number of people it needs to function properly, it's a sickening travesty.
The government continues to reward parenting in the hopes of assisting those who already have children and only serve to provide further incentive for further procreation by those who aren't willing to make the commitment and sacrifices necessary to be a good parent.
