'American Pie 2' Tops Box Office for Third Straight Weekend; New Releases Bomb

American Pie 2 took in $12.8 million last weekend, crossing the $100 million mark and becoming the first major summer release to stay atop the box office for three consecutive weekends.

Kevin Smith's yuckfest Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back opened at #3 with a respectable $11.1 million. However, it was a less stellar opening for the weekend's other new releases. Summer Catch, John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars, and Woody Allen's The Curse of the Jade Scorpion opened at #6, #9, and #11, respectively.

Oh, and Bubble Boy stayed in its bubble; the madcap comedy about a boy in a plastic bubble made $2 million, putting it at a tie for 13th with American Outlaws.

Kevin, and all the people at view askew should be DAMN PROUD. this is one funny fuckin' movie. There are enough inside jokes for 20 viewings. let's all pray that the video release will contain the 6hour "director's cut" with 6 commentary tracks and a plethera of extra shit to fill up 3 DVD's.
